The knowledge of haqiqah is obligatory to study. What remains is for us to be discerning in finding the right place to learn it.

As explained in many of our earlier articles, studying the knowledge of haqiqah is an obligation for every individual Muslim. Now we move on to the next step: where can we study the true knowledge of haqiqah?

These days we hear of many kinds of haqiqah teachings, and they usually call themselves this Tariqah or that Tariqah. Some teach openly, some teach in secret, and some even teach through the internet, such as YouTube. Most of the haqiqah teachings that exist today are more like supernatural practices than religious knowledge.

The most important thing to consider when choosing a place to study haqiqah is who the teacher is. The main requirement for being a teacher of haqiqah is to have received guidance from Allah and His Messenger. A degree from an Islamic higher education institution alone is not enough. This requirement is mandatory because the knowledge of haqiqah discusses matters such as knowing Allah (the beginning of religion is knowing Allah, awaluddin makrifatullah) and purifying the spirit, and all of these concern the unseen. If the teacher is not guided by Allah, there is a fear that the teacher will be guided by the other unseen forces instead, namely the jinn, Iblis, and Satan. This is the main difference between a teacher of haqiqah and a teacher of sharia. A graduate of a religious school can already be a teacher who teaches the correct prayer recitations and movements. But someone who has studied haqiqah may only become a teacher of haqiqah after he has practiced that knowledge until he himself receives guidance (hidayah) from Allah, so that while teaching haqiqah he is always under the guidance of Allah SWT.

This is why we see so many people who study haqiqah fall into deviant practices, which leads many Muslims today to fear or even hate the knowledge of haqiqah. It happens because they learned haqiqah only as teachings passed from teacher to teacher, not from a teacher who was guided by Allah.

This raises the next questions: who is a haqiqah teacher who has received guidance from Allah? How can we be sure that a teacher has truly received guidance from Allah? And one more: are there still people today who truly receive guidance from Allah?

We do not teach tawhid through the internet. All the religious articles on this website exist only to demonstrate and remind people how important knowledge of tawhid is.
